His parents divorced when he was five years old, and his father returned to Memphis. Drake remained with his mother in Toronto. Drake’s father would later be incarcerated severally for drug-related charges. When he was released, he would take Drake to Memphis during the summer holidays.
He was bullied in school based on his religious and racial background. As a result, Drake dropped out. He would then focus on acting but later graduated in October 2012.
Thank me later was the first album to achieve platinum status, and it set off a chain of success for the Canadian rapper. Drake’s next two releases were equally successful, and Nothing Was the Same album, released in 2013 earned him a Grammy award.
The two 2015 mixtapes released with the rapper, Future, also got platinum certification in the United States. Drake’s album, Views, became the first in over a decade to sit in the Billboard’s top 200 for about 13 weeks. One Dance was the second single in the album and was top in various charts in several countries for a significant amount of time.
That same year, 2016, Drake became the only artist to lead both the billboard 200 and the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time for eight weeks. Views is one of the most successful albums from the Canadian rapper to date.
Apart from the various chart topping music, he holds the record with a most charted songs at 186 in Billboard Hot 100.
